A house! And sun…? In Belfast…?

I live behind the red door! And then up a million stairs.

I live behind the red door! And then up a million stairs.

After the wonderful day of adventuring, I moved into the new place (on the fourth floor… YESSS STAIRS!) and met my new flatmate, she is from France and very very nice. She has been in Belfast doing research and completing a master’s degree in transitional justice. We currently have two empty rooms in the apartment which will likely be filled in the next couple of weeks. She has introduced me to many new international friends which is splendid. This past week has been beautiful and sunny and warm, really quite out of the ordinary for ‘summer’ in Belfast. We took advantage of the weather and took the 20 minute train ride to a nice beach at Helen’s Bay, we decided to go two days in a row.

Unfortunately, I rather resembled a spotty tomato for a few days after the beach adventure, I forgot that while you won’t get burned at 5 PM in Vermont, you will get burned at 5 PM in Northern Ireland because it is so far north and the sun stays out much longer. It is dark at about 11 PM and light again by 4:30 AM. I keep accidentally eating dinner at 10 because I think it’s only 7 or 8.
